The Rebobs are winged creatures said to inhabit the hills west of the Napa Valley—especially the oak woodland and cemetery country around Partrick Road.
Some frighten away anyone who comes looking. Some distrust humans for good reason. Others protect places that should never be found. The children can be curious and kind, but they are only one part of a much older and more complicated world.

Known inhabitants
Not every Rebob tells the same story.
The named characters appear when their stories call for them. Other encounters may involve creatures whose names—and intentions—remain unknown.

Jetson
Heavy, muscular, intimidating, and cunning. Jetson distrusts humans and has little patience for anyone who crosses into Rebob territory.

Captain Salamander
A hunched, scrunch-faced Rebob in a pirate hat—not a salamander. His red vest and gadget belt are usually surrounded by the latest evidence of his relentless tinkering.

Janice
Thin, watchful, and always calculating. The glint in her eye usually means she noticed you long before you noticed her.

Roger
An imposing guardian in a suit, Roger protects the Partrick family property and cemetery. Intruders rarely stay long enough to discover that the frightening guard at the gate is one of the good ones.

Marigold
A small, curious, cautiously friendly young Rebob with monarch wings, an aviator cap, and a gift for communicating with animals and insects. Marigold appears only in the stories that belong to her.
